Grand opening of Nimbin’s Rainbow Walking Track

Something special is happening in Nimbin, and you’re invited to be part of it! The Nimbin Community Centre is hosting the Nimbin Rainbow Walk Grand Opening on Sunday 23rd March, 10am–2pm, celebrating the completion of this exciting new public space with a day of live music, art, and community connection.

This free, family-friendly event will feature a fantastic lineup of live music and performances, guest speakers, and interactive activities for all ages. Kids (and the young at heart) can enjoy lantern making, face painting, and T-shirt painting, while artists and creators share the stories behind their installations along the walk.

To keep the good vibes flowing, bring a picnic rug and some snacks, and enjoy a day filled with colour, creativity and community.

The Nimbin Rainbow Walk is more than just a pathway, it’s a celebration of Nimbin’s history, culture, and artistic spirit. The 750-metre long concrete and boardwalk track incorporating artworks and interpretative signage had a total budget of $2.5 million, which was co-funded by the Federal and NSW governments as a Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Package.

Linking the village to the new Aquarius Park, this community-owned space now offers a vibrant, living tribute to the past while providing a welcoming place for all residents and visitors to enjoy. Regeneration and weed control work, together with several thousand new plantings, was done by volunteers, co-ordinated by a dedicated Aquarius Landcare group.

Whether you’ve lived in Nimbin for years or are new to the area, this is a day to come together, connect, and celebrate. Mark the date, spread the word, and join us for the Nimbin Rainbow Walk and Aquarius Park Grand Opening on 23rd March.

Nimbin Rainbow Walk is located in Aquarius Park, 11a Alternative Way, Nimbin.
